Weaker economic growth puts at risk essential invest

ments in areas such as education, health, climate change adaptation and sustainable infrastructure.

The growth outlook in all major developed economies and most developin

g regions has weakened due to a confluence of both domestic and external factors, the report said.

Following an expansion of 3 percent in 2018, world gross product growth is now projected to moderat

e to 2.7 percent in 2019 and 2.9 percent in 2020, reflecting a downward revision from the forecasts released in January.

The report identifies several downside risks that could trigger a sharper or more prolonged growth slowdown, potentially infl

icting significant damage on development progress. Those risks include a further escalation in trade te

nsions, a sudden deterioration in financial conditions, and the accelerating effects of climate change.

All of the respondents said they wanted to install the app

Many countries along the Belt and Road have high mountains, deserts, oc

Wei Caiying, deputy general-director of the National Satellite Meteorol

Mired in Brexit deadlock and forced to delay Britain’s M

March 29 exit from the EU, May’s Conservatives suffered major losses in local election

s this month and are trailing in opinion polls before May 23 European Parliament elections.

With Labour and Brexit-supporting rebels in the Conservatives p

Pro-Brexit Conservative lawmakers were unimpressed with May’s failure to set a firm date to quit. One, who declined to be na

Another, Andrew Bridgen, said May was “an increasingly beleaguered and isolated prim

The objective is part of its larger goal, set in 2014, to m

move 100 million rural residents, mostly migrant workers, to cities by 2020.

Under the plan, cities with a population under 3 million should remove all limits on hukou — hous

ehold registration — and cities with populations between 3 million and 5 million should relax restrictio

ns on new migrants. Having hukou in a city generally confers more social benefits on residents.

Megacities including Beijing and Shanghai should improve the points system to qu

alify for household registration, allowing more people to settle in those cities.

“In the future, the main driving force of China’s urbanization will be conferring the benefits of urban

citizenship on rural migrant workers,” said Xu Lin, former director of the NDRC’s development plan

ning department. “In this process, it is key to offering new migrants treatment equal to that of city residents.”

China has made steady progress in urbanization, as permanent urban residents amounted

to 831 million at the end of 2018, up by 17.9 million from the previous year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In Yangcao Village, Ma pushed for the establishment of a

poverty-reduction workshop, where over 40 women from poor families found jobs. They draw on their fine craftsmanship and hand

made items such as wallets, insoles and pillowcases, which sell at places as far away as Beijing and Shanghai.

In December 2018, Shangyan and Yangcao were removed from the list of poverty-strike

n villages with eight other villages of Huanghua Township, which means poverty had dropped to 3 percent and

below, with all impoverished population included in the national basic medical insurance scheme.

Ma died about a year after she was diagnosed with lymph cancer by a Beijing-based hospital in May 2017.

Even during chemotherapy, she often thought about poverty relief work, and after five months treatment, she returned to her office.

The mountainous Guyuan City, where Huanghua Township is located, is one of the sites whe

construction, and other industries will be lowered from 10 to 9 percent, while the lowest bracket rate will remain unchanged at 6 percent.

In order to reduce tax burdens for all industries, the government also adopted supporting

measures, such as increased tax deductions for producer and consumer services.

Gao Peiyong, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told China Securities Journal that VAT reduction

will trigger a domino effect through deduction mechanism, ultimately benefiting economic and social development.

The first day of rate reduction saw industries involved in oil,

electricity, natural gas, iPhones and automobiles all cutting their price.

According to data compiled by Chinanews, the maximum retail prices of gasoline and diesel fell 225 ($33.49) and 200 yuan

per ton, respectively; railway sector dropped or canceled some freight fees, expecting to give up 6 billion yuan to enterprises.

Prices for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max declined as much as 500 yuan,
